Yet another anti-Barroso website
A few PES grassroot activists have launched http://a-new-president.eu/, a web site calling for a new EU commission president.
“We need a new majority in the European Parliament”, says the baseline. It may help indeed for a new president.
The website offers a petition to sign, to be sent to PES officials.
“The European Parliament will elect the next European Commission. We, the voters on June 7 do not only decide the composition of the European Parliament, we also decide upon the driving seat of the EU: The European Commission. The composition of the executive EU body – the European Commission – has to reflect the vote of us EU citizens on June 7.
We call for the PES to build a new progressive majority with a strong Commission President.
We demand respect for our democratic rights! We demand that the Presidency of the European Council makes sure that the European Governments nominate a Commission President that reflects the majority in the European Parliament.”
Limited service
Due to continuing abnormal patterns of traffic from Portuguese IP addresses we have had to resort to a limited service here at Anyone But Barroso – essentially a basic Wordpress theme and no more for the moment. We’re investigating precisely what’s up together with the hosting firm.
Apologies for the inconvenience, but it’s a lot less of an inconvenience than having Barroso back for a second term will be!
Some people in Portugal don’t like our campaign

This website has about 35mb of web files, and has used about 2Gb of bandwidth each of the last couple of months. So it was a complete surprise when the site had already used more than 3Gb of data in May already – in 9 days. So who are all of these visitors? See the extract from the stats above – 6 Portuguese IP addresses that have been visiting the site incessantly.
Some allies of Mr Barroso’s that don’t like our campaign?
