Jean Quatremer parle de nous

with 4 comments

Intitulé TSB (Tout sauf Barroso), celui-ci indique :

PES: really poor effort

with 7 comments

So the dice have been cast. The hope for an interesting EP election in 2009 rested with the PES. But they have blown it, as shown in this UEF / JEF press release. Portuguese PM Socrates and Spanish PM Zapatero have both given their backing to Barroso for a second term. Let’s just make it clear: Zapatero and Socrates are from member parties of the PES, and Barroso is a conservative.

So the PES is approaching the EP elections having backed the opposition’s candidate. What the hell is wrong with them? Do they just want to avoid causing offence? Or do they think they won’t be the biggest party after the EP elections? Plus if it’s the latter then it seems they have not alerted Martin Schulz.

Remarkable.

Anyway, I thought the PES might like to re-work their logo a bit as a result…
